In my first Hollywood
studio-edge of the freeway,
gangs and hookers in the
street. I loved this apartment, though! It was holy for me.
The art in the back is my
Pusaka; a sacred object. My ‘Severe Goddess.’
The artist
at the Fairfax Flea Market generously gave her to me
because I’d fallen in love with this image.
This particular
night I wanted to embody her power, so I painted myself
with blush, eyeliner and
whatever I could find to
become my own ‘Severe
Goddess.’ It sits by my desk
and protects me to this day.
